Swiss Wonderful Gold Silver & Enamel Bird Box with Fusee 3-3/4” x 2-1/4” x 1-1/4” - Key-Wind - C. 1870 R-8 (Rarity on a scale of #1 being very common to #10 being extremely rare) Ultra-rare and important bird box is controlled by a high-grade fusee movement. The bird makes a beautiful singing sound from bellows and rapidly moves both wings while the head turns from side-to-side. The bird is very colorful with natural feathers and an ivory beak. It recesses below a gold filigree frame when the motion work is finished. The box is phenomenal, it features a gold start lever on the side as well as gold flowers, which appear in high relief on the top of the silver box. The mint box is trimmed with fabulous black enameled vine and flower designs, it is fully engraved on the silver top area. Fancy fern and Fleur-de-lis designs are engraved on the silver gilt side edges and the bottom of the box is fully chased with feather swirl and intertwined ribbon patterns. The top is centered by a fabulous polychrome enameled Alpine mountain scene, which is beautifully detailed and near mint.
